Can We Do More To Help Our Animal Friends? I think so.

This dog is one of several which have gotten loose, or been let loose in the neighborhood where I live. She appears to have recently had puppies, but the puppies are nowhere to be found. Notice she has no collar, no tags. Some people think she was used by backyard breeders to give puppies and then, having served her purpose, simply discarded into the neighborhood.

Makes you wonder about people. But, my point is that we pet lovers and pet owners need to do everything we can to ensure that pets stay with their rightful owners. And we need to encourage pet owners to realize that tags, registration of their pets, rabies and other vaccinations and keeping their pet on a leash is all part of the responsibility of pet ownership. I know first hand that loose pets have been involved in animal attacks and also result in distracting calls to the police department. There must be more we can do. Dogs need loving and responsible homes, not to be held captives in a shelter or barely survive as hobos in the wild. Let's see what more can be done. We're the humans, we're supposed to be the smart ones.....
