May the Bluebird of Happiness Make Its Home in Montgomery.

Wouldn't it be great to see these beautiful birds in Montgomery again?

Urban destruction of natural habitat and competition from other animals are the primary reasons we don't see bluebirds much anymore. They can thrive in our climate, but they have specific needs we must help them to meet. Volunteers for the Beautification Committee are helping to build bluebird habitat and overseeing the installation and maintenance of bluebird houses throughout Montgomery. Bluebirds like to be near water, 4-6' tall grass and within easy flying distance of trees. They like their nests to be about 5-6' off the ground. Through this bluebird project, we hope to create many such dwellings throughout the village to help attract these natural beauties back to our area. While it may take a little work to get things started again, bluebird hatchlings tend to come back to their "birthplace" each year to raise families of their own.
