Jamie Schiefer, Marion Bond and Stan Bond, residents of Cambridge Foxmoor subdivision in Montgomery, attended national Neighborhood Watch training provided by the National Sheriff's Association September 8-9th in Osh Kosh, WI. One of the oldest and best-known crime prevention concepts in North America, Neighborhood Watch provides materials and training to help citizens detect, report and prevent crime. Participants learn how to improve home security and develop better skills for identifying and reporting suspicious activity. Neighborhood Watch also provides citizens with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. According to Stan Bond, about 50 citizens and law enforcement personnel from Illinois and Wisconsin attended the training program led by presenters John Matthews and Bryan Cornish. Matthews, a former Chief of Police, is Executive Director of the Community Safety Institute. Cornish is Lieutenant of Police for the Dallas Police Department. Residents of Cambridge Foxmoor and Fairfield Way subdivisions in Montgomery are organizing Neighborhood Watch and invite residents of either subdivision to join the program.
