Retention Basins a Valuable Montgomery Asset
The pools of water which have been created in Montgomery to help manage stormwater are also a valuable community resource. I believe that more of Montgomery's many water basins should be stocked with fish, made more attractive to birds, and managed to be the distinctive village resource that they are. I will work for the enhancement of these natural areas to the enjoyment of everyone in Montgomery - youngsters and adults.
Followup Note: I am happy to report in 2012 that the Village is exploring the concept of volunteer "stewards" for water basins in our community. Such stewards might choose to assist in the development of wildflowers in these areas, encourage bluebirds and other desireable shorebirds, work to improve sport fishing, create educational signs that explain the history and unique characteristics of prairie plants and flowers, and promote better understanding of the environmental and ecological role that these water basins play in our community and for the Fox River Valley.
